Positively "rocked on"

When the critics declared "Rock on" to be 'must watch' movie, i was thrilled to bits. Ever since the music of the movie was launched and especially after i saw the band "magik" appear in an interview on channel V, i have patiently waited for the movie to be released and now after reading the reviews, i was pleased as a punch. i was waiting desperately to be free from work and catch the movie ASAP.

The opening fifteen minutes of the movie including the song gives you a tingling sensation that just doesnt go away even when you leave the 'show'. A must have movie experience is how i would deem it. I have never seen a hindi movie ever like this one. How many times have you hummed lines strumming an imaginary guitar? If you have, just like me, every time magik breaks into a song, you will be captured into a tremendously satisfying music experience. A story line that is a bit too predictable may be the only jarring note, but trust you me, it does not take away what you feel at the end of the movie.
Farhan Akhthar is a total rock star, he sings and dances away on stage -straight into the annals of hindi filmdom, which i am sure will mention him as one of the unparalleled superstars of this generation. A director who made movies which spurned an entire generation of followers, now shows he can emote as well as he could direct, but what surprises , shocks and for sure thrills is his singing. That, for me is the highlight as much as anything else. shankar, ehsan and loy have again come up with a chart bursting album which will be talked about for years to come, no doubt. Arjun Rampal slipped into his character with consummate ease, Purab and luke were extremely competent.

Overall a movie experience to be fully savoured.
